This one is for you... yes, you.

So, I was sitting on our front steps with my Dad the other day. We were eating some quiche that I made the night before. (Note: when you run out of milk... I don't recommend using water). Val So Cal just fell off her chair. This is why I never post about food, friends. Anyways... on to the story:

So my Dad asks, "So you like bloggin' honey?"
"Yeah. I like it. I've always enjoyed writing, and want to get better at it. It's kept me writing quite regularly."
He nods.
"I like keeping a journal of life, and the boys' shenanigans, landmarks, fun, etc."
He nods.
"It's great for reflection and slowing down to, you know, appreciate what's really going on."
Another nod.

And then he adds, "and the people you've met..."

Dangit. He's right. I didn't even include that! The most precious part of it and I didn't even give it a mention. That would be an indication of the type of day I was having.
You know... it was one of those "ME" days. All you think about is yourself. Me. Me. I. I. me. me. I. me. I.
But you probably never have those days.

  It was bla.

So my Dad continues...
"There's a girl named Holly that always comments."
"Oh, Holly? Yeah... she's my girl. We go way back."
"And 'A Casa somethin'?"
"Oh! A Casa da Va! Love my Vanessa!"
(How cute is it that my Dad knew some of your names!!!)
And as I sat there with my Dad on the front steps thinking about all of you, my day looked up. Way up. And, ironically, the sun came out.

So, I'm sure you've heard this saying a bazillion times. But it comes to mind: "It's not that we should think less of ourselves... but that we should think of ourselves less often." Anyways, I just wanted to say thank you for making my day. Yes, you. All of you.

Blogging... REALLY?

I AM A NEWBIE...
So, as you can see... I am VERY new to the blogging WORLD. And it is a WORLD that I never knew existed. I first started to blog because I wanted my friends and family and acquaintances to know "our story". We aren't your typical family. Half black, half white. And I let "Mr. Facebook" know about it. And I was AMAZINGLY blown away with the response. I mean... blown away! Thank you for accepting and loving "our story"! Acceptance is like putting on a pair of REALLY great fitting sneakers. You walk lighter. So, since then, I wake up in the morning and think, "Gee... I got to keep up with this blog. But who REALLY cares what I think? Who REALLY cares about what I say?" Mrs. Insecurity always likes to visit.

About noon, Mrs. Bogus Humility brings me cookies. "Don't you think that this whole "bloggy" thing is a bit presumptuous? I mean... you are going to other people's blogs and saying.. toot toot... hey over here! I think you're cool. I'm cool!"  Yeah, she freaked me out.

And then, sometime around mid-afternoon Mrs. Stability and Mrs. Reality bring me tea. They say, "Yes, darling... you are saying: Hey, I've got something to say. But so do others. And the conversation is a beautiful one. It's like life. So relax and enjoy the reflection. Enjoy writing. Enjoy others. Enjoy yourself. And don't take yourself so seriously! GEEZE!" It was really yummy tea.

ANYWAYS... The Boston Faith and Justice Network asked me to write a "guest post". I had to go to the Blogger Dictionary and find out just what that meant. And... I think I'm up for it. I mean... I'm a bit nervous. But I'm gonna do it.

But what do I say? I surely don't want to be all, "I'm SOOOO great I just adopted two POOR LITTLE ORPHANS. I GET justice. I GET faith." Because what I have learned through all this is that faith is so much a mystery to me and I am a little Pee-On trying to find my place. AND... most of all... we didn't end up "saving" our boys... they saved us. So... that's what I'm going to write about. But I think I'm gonna have to ask the ladies over for tea.
